Hello all,
I have been a volunteer at Asha San Diego for the last 6 years and the Chapter Coordinator for the last couple of years. I have always felt lucky to have the luxuries I enjoyed, and have a good financial and psychological support system thanks to my parents, friends and family. Since then, I have been finding ways to use those priviledges and support the ones who weren’t as lucky as me. Volunteering for Asha for Education gave me the opportunity to understand the challenges of our underpriviledged community and find ways to support them.
I am training for a Half Marathon with Asha San Diego’s “Couch to 5K & Beyond Programme” & hope to run at the America’s Finest City run on August 15th. My bigger goal for the run is to raise funds and awareness for the charitable organization ‘Asha for Education’. This organization began as an effort to provide basic education to underprivileged children throughout India. In addition to its usual goals of combating illiteracy & poverty, the volunteers are also putting in their sweat & blood towards the need of the hour – Curbing the 2nd wave of COVID-19.
